Isn’t this just like Superglued?
——
ConcertIn, built by past TechCrunch Meet-up pitch contest winner Jan Horna, essentially turns concerts into Facebook events, allowing you and your friends to talk up the Freelance Whales as well as buy tickets to their next concert.
The service doesn’t look like much on the surface but this “event” featuring the boy band Baby Lala shows you how it works. You create a concert event, buy tickets via BandsInTown’s API, and then discuss the concert with your friends. Short and sweet.

Are we upset that Live Nation isn’t making bank right now?
——-
Live Nation doesn’t know what you did last summer, and that’s a problem. During the recent summer quarter, the concert monstrosity reported an income drop of 25.7% to $51.4 million, or 30 cents a share. Meanwhile, revenues (of the combined Live Nation+Ticketmaster) tanked an unceremonious 14 percent to $2.14 billion. The three-month period ended September 30th.
The problems aren’t difficult to discern. Concert attendance slipped 16 percent during the period to 16.4 million, and across the board, butt-in-seats on all events dropped 4 percent to 32.3 million.

If you think the concert industry is simply toughing it out, then you might want to take a look at the latest numbers. According to a survey from Edison Research, 12-to-24 year-olds are going to just 0.9 concerts per year on average, down from 2.1 in 2000. That represents a 57.1 percent drop.
Moreover, this downturn appears to be striking different types of fans – heavier attendees, lighter attendees, and those in-between. Consider the following:
* In 2000, 24% surveyed attended 3+ shows annually
* In 2010, that number moved to just 12%
* In 2000, 43% reported not going to one concert
* In 2010, that figure expanded to 64%
